HELLO, I'M MR. ERIC!
I am a licensed Early Childhood Educator (ECE) with a Bachelor’s of Music (B.Mus.) and A.R.C.T. in piano performance. I am passionate about cultivating creativity and developing an innovative education curriculum for each of my students.
I believe that we all have different strengths and different ears to the same music. This belief allows me to approach teaching in a manner that fits each individual student and allow them to on their own musical journey.
My Experience
At the age of seven, I began learning piano with Peggy Yip of Piano Studio and continued until 2010.
In 2008, I earned my Diploma of Associate of The Royal Conservatory of Music (A.R.C.T. of RCM) in piano performance. I began working as a piano teacher assistant under the guidance of Peggy Yip. I also began to explore my own music through songwriting and performing at local gigs.
Fast forward to 2011, I received my Distinction in Bachelors of Music at the University of Victoria with May Ling Kwok.
Two years later, I began my position with Spirit Rising Community Choir as a technician, and occasional director and accompanist until 2015.
In 2015, I decided to start my own venture. I officially opened the doors to EN Music Studio in Victoria with the goal of fostering creativity through piano lessons.
After two years in Victoria, BC, I decided to bring music from the Island back to my home city in Richmond, BC. Since then, EN Music Studio has hosted bi-annual recitals, prepared students for RCM exams, and helped students develop their original compositions.
My passion for teaching continued to grow and in 2018, I acquired my Early Childhood Educator License. To this day, I am passionate about educating my students and fostering creativity through music.
My Vision
When I began teaching, I believed that my role was to lead the students down the same musical path that I went on. However, I quickly realized that every musical journey is unique and my students will embark on their own path in music.
Knowing this, I realized that my role was to guide my students in developing their own artistry. As they progress, students will begin to identify as performers, composers, songwriters, and/or accompanists.
